{"id":15300,"date":"2023-05-31T12:54:29","date_gmt":"2023-05-31T10:54:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/magazine.luxus-plus.com\/?p=15300"},"modified":"2023-05-31T13:09:09","modified_gmt":"2023-05-31T11:09:09","slug":"ocean-race-charlie-enright-tops-the-leaderboard-on-leg-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/magazine.luxus-plus.com\/en\/ocean-race-charlie-enright-tops-the-leaderboard-on-leg-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Ocean Race: Charlie Enright tops the leaderboard on Leg 5"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"initial-letter\"><p>Charlie Enright&#8217;s American crew 11th Hour has taken the overall lead in The Ocean Race after winning Monday&#8217;s 5th leg between Newport (USA) and Aarhus (Denmark).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After an Atlantic crossing of <strong>3,438 miles (6,300 km)<\/strong> and eight days at sea, <strong>Charlie Enright<\/strong>&#8216;s crew aboard <strong>11th Hour<\/strong> won the fifth leg <strong>from Newport (USA) to Aarhus (Denmark).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The American team won after just <strong>7 days 8 hours and 49 seconds<\/strong> of sailing, nearly 4 hours ahead of <strong>Kevin Escoffier and Charles Caudrelier&#8217;s Holcim-PRB<\/strong>, followed five minutes later by <strong>Boris Herrmann&#8217;s Team Malizia.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With this victory, the 11th Hour Racing Team takes the overall lead with <strong>28 points<\/strong>. It was extremely fast, it feels like I left Newport two days ago. At first, we had to trust our new mast, then we broke the 24-hour record, but it wasn&#8217;t enough. The new IMOCAs are pretty extreme, fast but not very comfortable.
