On 15 September, the 76th Emmy Awards ceremony was held, honouring the best series and television shows in the United States. While Hacks was honoured with the award for Best Comedy Series, Sh\u014dgun was crowned Best Drama Series. Discover the big winners.<\/p>\n

While the 2023 Emmy Awards were held earlier this year due to the Hollywood strike, the 76th ceremony took place on 15 September. The event rewarded the best American series<\/strong> broadcast between June 2023 and May 2024.<\/p>\n

The best series at the 2024 Emmy Awards<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

A firm favourite at the ceremony, Sh\u014dgun received the award for Best Drama Series<\/strong>. Among the nominees were The Crown, Fallout, The Gilded Age, The Morning Show, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Slow Horses and 3 Body Problem. Broadcast from last February, Sh\u014dgun follows the story of John Blackthorne, the English commander of an abandoned ship who knows certain secrets that could help Lord Yoshii Toranaga, who is engaged in a fight to the death against his enemies in the Council of Regents. The series is set in 1600 Japan, at the dawn of a civil war that would mark the century. It is adapted from James Clavell’s 1975 bestseller of the same name. A first adaptation was released in 1980, starring Richard Chamberlain, Toshir\u014d Mifune and Y\u00f4ko Shimada.<\/p>\n

Hacks won Best Comedy Series against Abbott Elementary<\/strong>, The Bear, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Only Murders in the Building, Palm Royale, Reservation Dogs and What We Do in the Shadows. This TV series created by Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs and Jen Statsky tells the story of a dark alliance between a Las Vegas comedian whose fame is beginning to wane and a cocky young screenwriter from Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The award for Best Miniseries went to My Little Reindeer<\/strong>, which was a huge hit on Netflix. The series created by Richard Gadd, inspired by his own life, follows the fate of Donny, a bartender trying to become a comedian, beginning an unhealthy and twisted relationship with Martha. Harassed by the neurotic self-styled lawyer, Donny must deal with her obsessions, which will awaken a dark buried trauma in him. The other nominees in this category were Fargo, Lessons in Chemistry, Ripley and True Detective: Night Country.<\/p>\n

The best actors and actresses at the 2024 Emmy Awards<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

Full house for Sh\u014dgun. Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada<\/strong> won Best Actress and Best Actor respectively for the drama series Sh\u014dgun<\/strong>. Frederick E.O. Toye<\/strong> also won Best Director for the series.<\/p>\n
