Officially born during the 1925 Universal Exhibition, this movement touched many fields, from architecture and design to furniture and fashion. Here is a selection of exhibitions around the world to (re)discover this artistic style, which remains influential today.<\/p>\n

Art Deco differs from its predecessor<\/strong>, Art Nouveau, in its pursuit of simplicity, geometric shapes, and modernity, directly borrowed from the world of factories and aeronautics<\/strong>, rather than organic and floral forms. Its rise marked the entire beauty and design industry<\/strong> and is still considered as a unique blend of elegance, modernity, and luxury<\/strong>, a source of inspiration for multiple generations of fans of The Great Gatsby, Josephine Baker<\/strong>, and Peaky Blinders<\/strong> TV serie.<\/p>\n

The Mus\u00e9e des Arts D\u00e9coratifs in Paris’s 1st arrondissement is hosting the exhibition “1925-2025. One Hundred Years of Art Deco”<\/strong>. This major retrospective presents more than 1,000 works<\/b> that recount the richness, refinement, and contradictions of a style that still amazes us today. Sculptural furniture, luxurious jewelry, and objets d’art are part of the exhibition.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that the same establishment is offering until January 11<\/b>, \u201cPaul Poiret, Fashion is a Celebration,\u201d<\/b> the very first Parisian exhibition dedicated to the most prominent haute couture designer of the Belle Epoque and the Roaring Twenties<\/b>. Little known to the general public, the man who freed women from the corset was also a visionary and extravagant jack-of-all-trades<\/b>. An immersive time capsule to be experienced through some 550 works (clothing, accessories, fine arts, and decorative arts).<\/p>\n

L\u2019Usine des Tramways, Pau<\/h3>\n

Until December 24, 2025<\/b>, the Pau Tramway Factory<\/b> is celebrating the centenary of the Art Deco style through the objects, buildings, and inspirations<\/b> that shaped the city. The exhibition<\/b> was created by students from the Master’s program in Heritage and Museums at the University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour<\/b> in collaboration with the City of Art and History Mission. The best part? Admission is free and open to all!<\/p>\n

Japan is also highlighting the centenary of Art Deco. The exhibition is dedicated to the fashion of the 1920s and 1930s, a time of major social and textile transformation that redefined the female silhouette.<\/p>\n

The Galeria Ocean Drive in Miami Beach<\/b> presents a hundred iconic images<\/b> of Art Deco style in the fields of photography, architecture, design, fashion, and graphic design<\/b>, as well as the \u201cTropical Deco\u201d variation specific to Miami Beach<\/b>. Scheduled to run until February 2026<\/b>, the outdoor exhibition allows visitors to stroll between 11th and 12th Streets while enjoying photographs integrated into this urban environment.<\/p>\n
