The race, which pitted the world&#8217;s top 15 thoroughbreds against each other, was won by the German horse Torquator Tasso, ridden by jockey Ren\u00e9 Piechulek.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A legendary race was held yesterday on the <strong>Longchamps racecourse<\/strong> in Paris. The <strong>Qatar Prix de l&#8217;Arc de Triomphe<\/strong>, founded in 1920, was held for the 100th time. This race,\u00a0sponsored by the<strong> Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club<\/strong> since 2008 and considered the <strong>most prestigious in the world<\/strong> in terms of quality, pits fifteen of the world&#8217;s best thoroughbreds, both males and females, against each other over a distance of 2,400 metres.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s winner of the race\u00a0took home \u20ac2,857,000 of the \u20ac5 million prize money.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The outsider<strong> Torquator Tasso<\/strong>, ridden by the jockey <strong>Ren\u00e9 Piechulek<\/strong>, comes out winner of this hundredth edition, a victory that surprised many spectators and observers. Prestigious guests were present in the audience to watch this prestigious competition as for example <strong>Princess Anne of the United Kingdom<\/strong>, the only daughter of <strong>Queen Elizabeth II<\/strong> and a great fan of horse racing. It&#8217;s exceptional, I did it<\/em>&#8220;, he said at the end of the race. &#8220;<em>I don&#8217;t know what&#8217;s happening to me. I don&#8217;t know what&#8217;s happening to me, it&#8217;s unbelievable. I had a brilliant run down the straight. With an odds of 70\/1, <strong>Torquator Tasso<\/strong> and <strong>Ren\u00e9 Piechulek<\/strong> started as outsiders. Moreover, a large part of the race was dominated and animated by <strong>Adayar.<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Torquator Tasso<\/strong> did not have a perfect ride as he travelled in third thickness before pronouncing his effort in the final straight to win ahead of all the favourites.
