On November 12, Hong Kong inaugurates the M+, a contemporary art museum that aims to put the city on the world cultural map. This opening takes place in a tense political context with Beijing, which is increasingly imposing its national security law on the former British colony.<\/p>\n

The M+<\/strong> is a multi-billion dollar project. It symbolises Hong Kong’s ambition<\/strong> in the field of contemporary art<\/strong>, as well as its desire<\/strong> to rival<\/strong> museums such as the Tate Modern in London<\/strong>, the MoMA in New York<\/strong> and the Centre Pompidou in Paris<\/strong>. Contemporary artworks<\/strong> by Chinese<\/strong>, Asian<\/strong> and even Western<\/strong> artists will be on display.<\/p>\n
