Tiffany & Co. reveals this year’s Vince Lombardi Super Bowl trophy, marking the 55th year of trophy production in the House’s legendary goldsmith shop.<\/p>\n

Tiffany & Co.<\/strong> announces that its signature trophy, Vince Lombardi<\/strong>, will be presented at the conclusion of the Super Bowl. A testament to the inimitable technical and artistic skills of Tiffany’s craftsmen, the Vince Lombardi Trophy is a work of art that symbolizes not only the best of sportsmanship, but also the legendary creativity and craftsmanship of the American jewelry house.<\/p>\n

For the record, the Vince Lombardi Trophy<\/strong> was designed and handcrafted by Tiffany & Co. for the inaugural Super Bowl in 1967.<\/strong> It symbolizes the pinnacle of soccer glory. In 1970, the trophy was renamed after Lombardi<\/strong>, the Green Bay Packers<\/strong> coach who led the Packers<\/strong> to victory in the first two Super Bowls<\/strong>. The trophy was originally designed by Oscar Riedener<\/strong>, former vice president of Tiffany & Co, who sketched the basic design on a napkin during a 1966 meeting with then-NFL<\/strong> commissioner Pete Rozelle<\/strong> and depicts a regulation-sized football in the kicking position.<\/p>\n

The jewelry house entrusts the design to its most accomplished artisans<\/strong>, who bring the trophy to life over a period of approximately four months and requires some 72 hours of work in total. These master craftsmen combine time-honored techniques with cutting-edge innovations<\/strong>: from spinning, goldsmithing and chasing to hand engraving and polishing, to make the seven-pound, 22-inch sterling silver trophy. They handcraft the Vince Lombardi Trophy<\/strong> and more than 65 other trophies each year at Tiffany & Co.’s Hollowware Workshop in Cumberland, Rhode Island. Tiffany’s legendary Vince Lombardi Trophy will be presented during the Super Bowl on February 13 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.<\/strong><\/p>\n
