The Mus\u00e9e des Arts D\u00e9coratifs (MAD) unveils a new exhibition featuring 16 major works and 38 drawings by the artist couple Claude and Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Lalanne. Discover this exceptional event “Histoires naturelles. Dation Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier et Claude Lalanne au Mus\u00e9e des Arts D\u00e9coratifs”, which will be held until 29 May 2022 in the museum’s nave.<\/p>\n

The Mus\u00e9e des Arts D\u00e9coratifs in Paris plunges us into 60 years of creation from the 1960s<\/strong> to 2019<\/strong>, through works inspired by nature and animals such as the famous blue earthenware hippopotamus from the Egyptian collections of the Louvre Museum.<\/p>\n

“These often hybrid works give rise to emotion, astonishment, amusement, a poetry nourished by surrealism, an artistic vision guided by the play on words, forms and materials”<\/em>, commented the Mus\u00e9e des Arts D\u00e9coratifs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Throughout the exhibition, you can admire nine works by Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Lalanne<\/strong>, two of which are particularly unique : La Mouche<\/strong> (1966-1967) and l’Hippopotame<\/strong> (1968-1969). On closer inspection, the latter work contains a washbasin and a bathtub. The seven works by Claude Lalanne<\/strong> are intended to demonstrate that in his mind and practice the meaning of the object is not purely decorative.<\/p>\n
