To keep your skin healthy and glowing, it’s essential to take care of it in a way that’s adapted to its characteristics and needs. Here are a few recommendations for radiant, soft and smooth skin.
1. Choosing an effective anti-wrinkle cream
The passage of time leaves its mark on the skin – it gradually slackens and wrinkles. To delay and reduce these signs, it is advisable to use an anti-wrinkle cream suited to your skin type and age. There are many anti-wrinkle creams on the market. It’s important to find out which ingredients and active principles they contain, and choose those with proven action on collagen production, hydration and skin repair.
Among the most effective components: retinol, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, peptides and plant extracts. You’ll find a range of quality anti-wrinkle creams in stores and on specialized websites.
2. Cleanse your skin morning and night
Cleansing the skin is an essential step in removing impurities, sebum, make-up and traces of pollution. Morning and night, use a product adapted to your skin type (gel, mousse, milk, micellar water, etc.). After cleansing, rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean towel, without rubbing.
3. Exfoliate your skin once or twice a week
Exfoliation complements cleansing. It removes dead cells that accumulate on the skin’s surface, leaving it dull, rough and uneven. Exfoliation also stimulates cell renewal, improves blood circulation and facilitates skin care penetration.
There are two types of exfoliator: mechanical – containing grains or abrasive particles – and chemical, containing acids (glycolic, salicylic, lactic, etc.) that dissolve the bonds between dead cells. Choose an exfoliant suited to your skin type and sensitivity. Use it once or twice a week, massaging gently into the skin in circular movements.
4. Moisturize your skin daily
It’s essential to maintain the skin’s moisture balance, which can be disturbed by climatic factors, heating, air conditioning, stress and aging. Dehydrated skin shows signs of dryness, tightness, flaking and fine lines.
To moisturize skin, you need to supply it not only with water, but also with lipids to form a protective barrier and prevent water evaporation. It’s important to choose a moisturizing cream suited to your skin type (dry, oily, combination, normal…) and needs (nourishing, mattifying, soothing…).
5. Protect your skin from the sun
The sun is one of our skin’s greatest enemies, emitting ultraviolet rays (UVA and UVB) that can cause short- and long-term damage. To protect your skin from the sun, use a sunscreen with a high SPF (sun protection factor) adapted to your skin type, and reapply every two hours or after every swim. Avoid exposure to the sun during the hottest part of the day (between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.), and wear clothing, a hat and sunglasses.
