The Al Messila Resort welcomes the French world champions to an oasis of peace and luxury.
As part of the World Cup in Qatar, “Les Bleus” (the french team) are hosted by the Al Messila Resort, a luxurious establishment privatised for the occasion. It had been booked long ago, last April. “France has the best base camp” admit the majority of the teams selected for the World Cup in Qatar. Indeed, the team has taken up residence away from the urban madness of the Qatari capital, six kilometres from Doha. The five-star Palace is only ten minutes away from the Al Saad stadium and its ultra-modern facilities, where the French team trains.
The hotel offers 4 restaurants and bars, a gym, and an outdoor swimming pool with a separate jacuzzi. It even has several padel and squash courts.
The complex is built around large gardens that house three swimming pools, including a large outdoor pool and a spa, which measures no less than 14,000 square metres.
“It’s an airy base camp, with greenery, calm, a feeling of quietness, space. A player needs that to feel good about himself,” explained assistant coach Guy Stephan.
