Maison Camille Fournet welcomes artist couple Christa Sommerer and Laurent Mignonneau for their seventh artistic collaboration in the exhibition Equinoxes.
The leather goods house Camille Fournet embarks us for the 7th edition of Equinoxes. Its ambition is to give a platform to contemporary artists to discover their work. Every six months, a different artist is honored in the Camille Fournet boutique on rue Cambon.
For this 7th edition, the international artists Christa Sommerer and Laurent Mignonneau propose to play with the customers by creating an interactive experience in the store. This digital work aims to question our relationship with nature, and particularly with insects, by making us “dance” with the bees. “By combining virtual worlds, interaction and artificial nature, we want to raise awareness of the complex links between humans and their natural environment,” explain the artists.

“Our artworks often rely on visitor interaction and our relationship with nature. In the interactive installation “Apis Humane”, visitors can approach a large LCD screen and see themselves in a Customs Rousseau style frame, depicting various images of plants taken from our own garden. (…) Bees frantically fly around and react to the visitors’ movements. The bees and humans begin to interact with each other in an improvised dance that constantly changes in this virtual garden environment,” say Christa Sommerer and Laurent Mignonneau.
The exhibition, named “Apis Humane” is visible from September 26 and for six months in the Camille Fournet store, at 5 rue Cambon, in Paris.
