La Guava Girl, the beauty trend we love this summer

It is the beauty phenomenon of the season. More than an aesthetic trend, the Guava Girl embodies a radiant and carefree state of mind. Let’s take a closer look.

A true beauty wave on social media in recent months, with over 6,000 posts under its dedicated hashtag on Instagram, the Guava Girl is energizing skincare and makeup enthusiasts.

A fresh complexion, peach-pink cheeks, and sweet fragrances

Every season has its beauty phenomenon. After Glass Skin, Tomato Girl, Strawberry Girl, and Cherry Girl, it is time for a new beauty trend. Named Guava Girl, its title refers to the guava fruit, with its peach-pink flesh that inspires a luminous complexion, halfway between coral and fuchsia.

When it comes to makeup, this guava tone is the star. First, the skin should be hydrated with an almost dewy finish. Then comes a cream blush in peach, pink, or orangey shades, applied to the cheekbones, the nose, and even the lips, enhanced with a gloss or tinted balm. The rest of the makeup should remain discreet to highlight this sun-kissed glow effect. Finally, a hydrating mist seals the look with a fresh finish, perfect for summer.

Many beauty brands have seized on this trend. At e.l.f, a lip oil takes on guava’s peachy-pink hue. Fenty Skin has released a body moisturizer with whipped guava oil, while Huda Beauty offers a liquid blush in a vivid guava shade. Rare Beauty, L’Oréal Paris, Too Faced, NYX, Glossier, MAC Cosmetics, Sol de Janeiro, NARS… Even without mentioning guava directly, many brands are launching makeup ranges in the color palette beloved by Guava Girls. Perfumes and body care products are also riding the trend, this time highlighting its sweet, summery scent and skin benefits.

More than a visual style: a state of mind

The Guava Girl trend goes far beyond the beauty world. Followers have expanded the concept into a lifestyle. Being a Guava Girl means embodying freedom, light, joy, freshness, and radiance. This spirit connects with the Brazilian idea of “badalada,” a word derived from “badalar,” meaning to flaunt, have fun, and shine.

In Brazilian pop culture, it describes a woman who goes out, enjoys life, and attracts attention, but with a joyful energy rather than arrogance. The expression conveys a radiant, confident, glamorous, sensual, and spontaneous femininity, evoking pleasure and festivity, linked both to summer nights and to the tropical essence of the sun-drenched guava fruit.

Taken together, the Guava Girl movement comes close to a feminist statement, embracing an uninhibited and free attitude while remaining rooted in a gentle, sunlit femininity. The only question is what the next beauty trend will be in the coming months.
