For its reopening on September 7th, the prestigious Parisian Prince de Galles Hotel located in the heart of the 8th arrondissement is blowing a wind of change. It will inaugurate a new cocktail bar with an intimate atmosphere, the 19.20, in an Art Deco setting that will make reference to the famous speakeasys of the 20s.
The Prince of Wales, a Luxury Collection hotel, is preparing some nice surprises for us, including a new bar, the 19.20, in place of his former gourmet restaurant.
Like a speakeasy from the twenties, the Prince of Wales’ new bar will offer a collection of signature cocktails with international influences, created by the new Chef Barman Roberto Catelano, a native of Puglia and a world traveller.
On the menu, you will find 10 tailor-made cocktails that will explore the great terroirs of cognac – Grande and Petite Champagne, Fins Bois and Bons Bois and Borderies – to tell the story of this very singular spirit, between small renowned producers and confidential houses, and to make you discover or re-discover this eau-de-vie that is now in vogue in the world’s greatest bars.
With a nod to the Prohibition period of the 1920s and to clandestine bars, Bar 19.20 will be hanging up its black curtain and adorning its walls with notes of cognac and champagne amber, while the lighting will create a subdued, intimate atmosphere until late in the night.
Only 40 seats will be revealed inside for total privacy, and will be reserved for connaisseurs, business or love meetings.
The Alcôve, a private space that can accommodate up to 10 guests, has also been designed around the notion of sharing and meeting: an opportunity for lovers of spirits and fine gourmet food to exchange with wine-growers and small producers of wine and cognac, but also with artisan cheese makers and bakers. Even more, moments of conviviality will be continued with dinners pairing food and wine with 4 hands.
Chef barman Roberto Catalano will introduce you to the art of French-style cocktails in this meeting place par excellence, which dedicates its name to a very symbolic moment in Parisian life: the aperitif.
At 19.20, the Parisian spirit will meet the art of cocktail, with refinement and elegance, in a convivial setting ideal for inspiration and dreams. A “place for everyday life, for Parisians and guests passing through” that will soon make the heart of Paris beat.
