Reconnect body and mind: we tested the Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort’s wellness promise for you

This year, Mazagan is celebrating 15 years of elegance and excellence. To mark the occasion, the resort is unveiling a new wellness offering inspired by naturopathy: L’Éveil des Sens (Awakening the Senses). This unique program draws on Moroccan traditions to provide a holistic experience combining natural treatments, ancestral rituals, and reconnection with oneself.

Much more than just a resort, Mazagan offers endless views of the Atlantic, an exceptional 18-hole golf course, a range of restaurants serving flavors from around the world… and a spa worthy of the Arabian Nights, now enhanced with a holistic wellness offering, where naturopathy is a way of life. A destination apart, combining luxury, nature, and reconnection.

As soon as you leave Casablanca airport, the contrast is striking: a brand-new highway lined with immaculate palm trees and exotic species, like a welcome carpet rolled out for a country undergoing a complete transformation. Morocco is bustling, building, and already preparing to shine for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

As the miles go by, the scenery changes. Cows, sheep, horses and their owners dot the vast green plains. Then, as you leave the highway to reach the town of Azemmour before the fortified port city of El Jadida, concrete gives way to makeshift shelters. Women and children live there in precarious conditions, in a landscape where donkey carts transport wood, vegetables, and scrap metal.

And then, almost like an apparition, the Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort appears, an oasis of luxury and greenery, in stark contrast to what came before. It is another world, nestled in the heart of a bountiful natural setting, almost unreal.

An exceptional location designed to shine beyond borders, the Mazagan Resort is part of the highly ambitious Plan Azur, launched in June 2009 by His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The goal: to welcome 10 million tourists in four years and make Morocco a leading seaside destination. Developed by South African magnate Sol Kerzner, Mazagan is the showcase for this royal project—a model seaside resort designed to combine prestige, international appeal, and regional development. This year, Mazagan is celebrating its 15th anniversary.

“These fifteen years of success are the result of the passion, commitment and innovation of each of our employees, who are always dedicated to customer satisfaction. It is this long-term vision and constant pursuit of excellence that have enabled Mazagan to endure,” says Jacques Claudel, General Manager of the hotel, adding, ” I am surrounded by women, with 12 of the 15 members of the board of directors being women. Moroccan women are charismatic and strong,“ just like Khadija El Idrissi, Director of Communications and Partnerships, affectionately nicknamed ”the Diva” by her teams. She alone symbolizes elegance, strength, modernity, and loyalty. She has been with the resort since it opened in 2009 and has seen six hotel managers come and go without ever losing her poise or influence. Her natural aura and unparalleled charm leave a lasting impression on everyone who crosses her path.

Set on 250 hectares along the Atlantic coast, the Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort offers sprawling luxury: 492 rooms and suites with sea, golf or patio views, 15 restaurants and bars, two huge swimming pools, and a five-star reconstruction of a medina. In summer, 1,700 employees work hard to offer a complete experience: an 18-hole golf course designed by Gary Player, a gym facing the ocean, an equestrian center, a FIFA-approved soccer field, an ultra-secure kids’ club ultra-secure by numerous courtesy guards, as Jacques Claudel calls them, an organic vegetable garden, a farm, a myriad of excursions, and even the largest casino in North Africa, open 24 hours a day.

Everything here is designed to seduce, entertain and impress. A leisure village where nothing is missing.

YOU CAN’T STAY IN MAZAGAN WITHOUT VISITING EL JADIDA, AN OLD PORTUGUESE CITY LISTED AS A UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE.

Nestled on the Atlantic coast, it charms visitors with its wind-swept ramparts, narrow streets steeped in history, and famous silver-colored cistern.

The colonial heritage blends harmoniously with the Moroccan soul in an authentic setting between a lively port, golden beaches, and markets fragrant with spices and the sea. Renowned for its prestigious horse show, El Jadida also celebrates its fertile land through pumpkin cultivation. A vibrant city, combining equestrian elegance, agricultural traditions, and Atlantic charm.

At the crossroads of ancestral Moroccan rituals and holistic well-being

At Mazagan, the spa is more than just a haven of relaxation. To mark the hotel’s 15th anniversary, it is taking a more holistic approach with a new offering focused on naturopathy, in partnership with Khadija Benslimane of Healing Four, a recognized expert in the field.

While Moroccan rituals remain the highlight—black soap scrub and kessa glove, sandalwood hammam, argan oil massage on a heated marble table—the experience has been enriched. The signature treatment, “Voyage au Maroc,” concludes with a customized massage with essential oils, tailored to your mood: soothing, energizing, or balancing.

And that’s just the beginning: the spa is already preparing the arrival of innovative treatments such as Kobido, a natural Japanese facelift, and Renata lymphatic drainage, for deep well-being. A spa that cares for the body… but also the mind.

Reconnect the body, sublimate the mind

The big news at the spa is its holistic shift with a tailor-made naturopathy program. The aim is to take care of your overall health through personalized coaching tailored to your needs, predispositions, and length of stay, which can be booked before your arrival. “This is a comprehensive program that is deeply rooted in listening to the body,” emphasizes Khadija Benslimane, naturopathic expert and partner at Mazagan, who adds, ” The aim of these stays is to improve your health, prevent illness, or simply treat yourself to a break on all levels—digestive, mental, and emotional—so that you can leave feeling energized and motivated to adopt a new lifestyle at home.”

We tested it for you, and the results are surprising after just three days. At the heart of this naturopathy program is a comprehensive mind-body approach: a gentle morning wake-up with animal flow movements, tailored sports sessions, olfactory therapy workshops to calm the mind, conscious breathing exercises, mindful walking with your feet in the water and in silence, a total detox, and nutritional rebalancing. A rejuvenating break, far from the classic spa, where you can learn to listen to your body again.

“The goal of a naturopath is to preserve and optimize the overall health of the individual and to help the body regain its own self-healing abilities through natural means,” says Khadija Benslimane.

Naturopathy is based on the body’s ability to heal itself, whether in terms of pain, fever, fatigue, ossification, or healing. According to Hippocrates (460 BC), the causes of disease are physical (clogging of the humors affecting the blood and lymph), emotional (“everything that is not expressed is imprinted”) and spiritual (the search for meaning).

To further the healing of modern-day ailments, Mazagan also offers other complementary approaches tailored to the length of your stay, including physical treatments: workshops to relearn how to eat in accordance with your biological rhythm (chronobiology) and the seasons, focusing on nutritious foods, phyto-aroma, massages, sauna, physical activity for flexibility and core strength, muscle strengthening and endurance, and a detox treatment that takes different forms depending on your abilities (hypo-toxic diet, water fasting according to Dr. Otto Buchinder’s method *, intermittent fasting, mono-diet); energy-based: acupuncture, reflexology, reiki, yoga, breathing; and emotional: relaxation, sophrology, talking therapy, essential oils, and rest.

A few words about fasting and its benefits by Khadija Benslimane

“As a preventive measure, which is the goal of a naturopath, fasting helps to cleanse the body, regenerate, lose weight, stimulate the immune system, but also reduce stress and regain energy. From a medical standpoint, Dr. Otto Buchinger would respond: “Ask me instead what diseases fasting cannot cure.” Fasting has a positive effect on many lifestyle diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, triglycerides, fatty liver, gastrointestinal problems, allergies, asthma, skin problems, and chronic inflammatory and joint pain.

Mazagan understands this well: naturopathy, far from being a mere trend, is establishing itself as a valuable response to the expectations of a clientele in search of meaning, balance, and profound well-being. It is a natural and personalized approach that is perfectly timed in a world where luxury is also measured by the quality of attention paid to oneself.

In conclusion, more than just a resort, Mazagan is a manifesto for well-being, combining preventive care, the Moroccan art of living, and cultural roots.

*The Otto Buchinger fasting method is based on supervised therapeutic fasting, consisting of broths, diluted juices, and herbal teas, aimed at detoxifying the body and revitalizing the mind.
