Often overlooked and neglected, massage is nevertheless an essential part of any skincare routine. Whether performed using devices or by hand, this skincare treatment promotes drainage and improves product absorption, among other benefits.
Both aesthetically and for general well-being, facial massage is extremely beneficial for the skin. This beauty ritual improves blood circulation by stimulating microcirculation in the skin, resulting in a brighter and fresher complexion. Circular or lymphatic drainage movements boost the elimination of toxins and excess fluid, which reduces facial swelling and under-eye bags.
This draining effect is complemented by a strengthening of the underlying muscles and improved elasticity. The skin is toned and the natural “lifting” effect is noticeable from the very first treatment, which also helps to delay the appearance of wrinkles. Serums and creams also penetrate the skin better when applied with massage. The active ingredients are therefore more effective and reach the epidermis more easily, without remaining on the surface. In addition, massage contributes to general well-being by reducing stress and soothing facial tension. A moment of relaxation with a real beauty effect to incorporate into your routine.
Facial massage devices
There is not just one device for massaging the face. Many are similar to the treatments offered in salons.
We start with a cleansing brush that revisits exfoliation. Ideal at the beginning of your skincare routine, this device purifies the skin of all the impurities accumulated during the day and begins to stimulate circulation. This first step perfectly prepares the skin to receive beauty products.
Among the massage basics, traditional rollers and gua sha made of jade, rose quartz, amethyst, or obsidian are must-haves that can be used anytime and are easy to carry around. These massages are natural and gentle, perfect for a simple and effective moment of relaxation.
When it comes to multifunctional electrical devices, some are equipped with vibrating movements, microcurrents, heat, and/or LEDs. These different, more intensive functions deeply drain the skin while reducing imperfections.
Other devices are more specific, targeting the eye contour or particular areas of the face. They can, for example, reduce dark circles and puffiness or delay the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. These devices are recommended for a targeted finish to your beauty routine, or for people who want and need a specific focus.
In short, each massage device offers a specific, targeted treatment. By combining and alternating functions, the rituals are almost on par with those of professionals. However, we still recommend consulting a skin specialist who will carry out a personalized assessment to develop a tailored routine.
What if you don’t have a device?
Manual facial massage is a simple but powerful ritual for caring for your skin while relaxing. Always on clean, slightly damp skin, apply a few drops of serum or a small amount of cream to facilitate movement and help the products penetrate. Movements should be gentle, without agressing or stressing the skin. The key to hand massage is to move from the center of the face outwards, which guarantees a lifting and toning effect.
On the forehead, small circular movements will relax the muscles and smooth expression lines. On the eye area, use a delicate touch, gently tapping the contour to stimulate circulation and reduce puffiness. Next, massage the cheeks and jaw from the inside out, gently pinching the skin to stimulate microcirculation. Often overlooked, the neck should not be forgotten, with movements working towards the chin.
