Aquelques kilometers below Bordeaux, the Château de Léognan is a superb boutique hotel that also has lodges in the middle of nature. Between its restaurant with perfectly sourced products, its walks in the park and its relaxing spa, this address is ideal for a weekend in the south-west where you take time to live.
Located in Léognan, a small town in the south-west of France below Bordeaux, this 5-star hotel invites us on a trip to the heart of the Gironde. This magnificent 19th century castle, under the aegis of the Miecaze family since 2007, is the ideal refuge for wine tourism lovers. Indeed, in addition to being a superb hotel, the address is surrounded by six hectares of vineyards, planted in 1989, on Pessac-Léognan. Wine tastings accompanied by caviar or a board are offered as well as visits to the house, the chapel and the surroundings, on foot, by bike and even by carriage.
A French style castle
This castle near Bordeaux is perfectly preserved and has 17 rooms and suites with a princely look highly elegant. The herringbone parquet floor dialogues with large crystal chandeliers, which illuminate paintings of green landscapes and period furniture with superb materials that merge with more contemporary elements. The colours range from olive green, nuanced beige, old pink and grey. Huge crush for bathrooms in orange mosaic or dressed in Art Deco mirrors, all more beautiful than each other.
For travelers looking for adventure, seven unusual accommodations are housed in the 70-hectare park of this boutique hotel. Nestled among the trees, these keys offer an exceptional natural panorama and rooms dressed in beautiful wood. Even in this more rustic setting, the art de vivre à la française is working wonderfully.
Eco-friendly restaurant and spa
Housed in the former stables, the restaurant Le Manège opened in 2015 and has a terrace on the old roundabout of the estate. Warm and friendly atmosphere assured! Since the end of 2024, the new chef Robin Bos, driven by an eco-responsible approach acquired during his career, focuses his cuisine on local products. Neither semi-gastronomic nor bistro, Le Manège is simply a beautiful table with traditional and skillfully executed French dishes that lives to the rhythm of nature. We also remember the delicious tea time where pastries and entremets are perfectly combined with a glass of champagne.
If you come to the Château de Léognan, it is also for its relaxation area, one of the most beautiful spas in the region. Around four themes (relaxing and comforting, relaxing and sports, detox and antioxidant, or invigorating and energizing), the treatments are provided in yurts or lodges to prolong this spirit of harmony with nature. All with products with marine benefits.
If the stone property does not have a swimming pool, many activities are offered, in addition to the spa, wine tastings and walks in the park. A fitness room and a tennis court will delight sports enthusiasts.
Around, a multitude of places are to discover. The Tannery park, the wood of Thouars, the Castle of la Brède, the mill of Noes, the zoo of Pessac… Without forgetting of course Bordeaux located a few kilometers north of the green setting. The Château de Léognan is thus a perfect starting point to enjoy this charming town while rejuvenating in the countryside.
