Met Gala 2022: an array of stars and glitter

This year, the Met Gala returns to its usual programming. Indeed, due to the covid-19 pandemic, the year 2020 had not hosted the famous gala and it could only resume last September. Yesterday, on May 2, 2022, celebrities were able to gather for the event of the year in New York.

The Met Gala, formerly known as the Costume Institute Gala, also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the Anna Wintour Costume Center at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) in New York City. It marks the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibition and each year the theme of the exhibition sets the tone for the evening’s attire, suggested to guests.

The theme of this year’s exhibition is “In America: A Fashion Anthology“, which explores American fashion. It will be presented in 13 of the rooms dedicated to the United States, and will feature designs by Bill Blass, Brooks Brothers, Lloyd Kiva New, etc.

On the red carpet, the stars did their best to adopt the “Gilded Glamour, White Tie” dress code, where they were encouraged to approach late 19th century clothing from a modern perspective by paying homage to America’s golden age. This year was no exception and the most extravagant outfits were expected on the red carpet. The Met Gala is the place to be for the stars, as all the media around the world will be covering and broadcasting photos from the event.

This year’s official co-chairs are Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Among the celebrities who walked the red carpet were Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson, the new star couple, Gigi Hadid and her sister, Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Kaia Gerber, Naomi Campbell, Cara Delevingne, but also Stromae, Bradley Cooper, Katy Perry , Billie Eilish, Emma Stone or Sarah Jessica Parker.

The Frenchy influencer Lena Situations, was also the first French influencer to have ever walked the red carpet of the famous gala, in a dress signed Markarian, Jimmy Choo shoes and Bulgari jewelry.
