Focus on a few addresses, including hotels, restaurants and visits, to add on his bucket list for a memorable getaway.

Where to stay?

Hotel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes

Designed by architect Théo Petit, the Cannes Barrière Le Majestic Cannes hotel and spa has been perched on the seaside resort for nearly 100 years. This seaside palace, with its art deco facade of the 20s recognizable by its red blinds, attracts both travelers who love a glamorous luxury as the greatest international celebrities. There are 349 rooms and suites, some of which exceed 400m2, a 450m2 Diane Barrière spa and an outdoor pool. Three restaurants and three bars are part of the hotel offer, including Le Fouquet’s led by Pierre Gagnaire. Like all Barrière, the hotel’s Kids Club offers a multitude of activities to stimulate and entertain the youngest.

Hotel Barrière Le Gray d’Albion Cannes

Also under the aegis of the renowned Barrière group, the Hotel Le Gray d’Albion is stamped 4 stars. Sober and modern, its 200 rooms and suites have mostly terraces overlooking the city or gardens. Facing the sea, the establishment is appreciated in the summer for its superb beach restaurant: Mademoiselle Gray, where you can taste dishes with Lebanese accents and refreshing cocktails feet in the sand, on the private beach. To relax, the Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic shares with him his luxury spa Diane Barrière and its Kids Club.

Carlton Cannes

Here is a name that exudes the luxury of the French Riviera. Built more than 100 years ago, the Carlton Cannes has been redecorated for several years before reopening its doors in 2023, to the delight of travelers. Behind its impressive renovated facades overlooking palm trees and the sea, there is a large swimming pool and gardens preserved from the bustle of the city. The hotel of the brand Regent by IHG unveils 332 immaculate rooms and suites – but enhanced by the blue of the Mediterranean that can be seen from the windows – with some Art Deco elements. La Grande Dame, of its little name, presents three restaurants with a beach club very appreciated by the clientele for its privacy and comfort. The C Club Spa stands out for its technological advances that blend perfectly with more traditional rituals. A perfect combo to relax and regenerate.

Hotel Martinez in the Unbound Collection by Hyatt

With no less than 410 rooms, including 116 suites, the Hotel Martinez In The Unbound Collection By Hyatt is another iconic address in Cannes, opened since 1929. Elegant and sunny, the hotel welcomes chef Jean Imbert in the one-star restaurant La Palme d’Or, the terrace Le Sud and La Plage with its sea view. The Martinez Bar is inspired by the atmosphere of the 30s with a decor signed Rémi Tessier. The spa is run by Carita and includes treatment rooms, a hammam or sensory showers. A wellness area that perfectly completes a relaxing day by the pool, or complete a romantic weekend.

If this address is not strictly speaking in Cannes, it only takes fifteen minutes to reach it. A little quarter of an hour that is fully worth it since the Hotel Belles Rives is an institution in the region. Already, by its Art Deco building unveiled in the late 20’s illuminated by the southern sun, which overlooks the private beach and this mythical pontoon surrounded by white sunbeds. Then, by a unique style where each space lives in a singular way while being in harmony with the others. This is the case at La Passagère, the star restaurant of the Écrin, run by chef Aurélien Véquaud who values the seafood products that we admire from the terrace. The Paseo table is more exotic and ultra colorful. A joyful luxury perfectly mastered. As for the bedrooms, there are only 43 richly dressed in motifs. The five-star hotel also offers its Valmont corner, for a personalized massage that awakens the senses.

Where to eat?

If the hotels mentioned above include the best restaurants in Cannes, the city is full of beautiful tables where local products are required. Let’s mention La Guérite, a jewel set up since 1902 on the rocky cove of Ile Sainte-Marguerite near Cannes. The most? Grilled and grilled meats that smell good in the summer.

The Table 22 by Noël Mantel evolves its menu according to the seasons, all in a chic and friendly decor. We taste for example a lobster ravioli with leeks or a square lamb from Provence.

The son of Noël Mantel, Etienne Mantel, is not left over when it comes to cooking local products with a fine originality and audacity as controlled as reassuring. In a few words, the UVA restaurant reveals an inventive bistronomy rich in flavors.

And for lovers of Japanese cuisine, direction Zuma, where we choose the menu Omakase to enjoy the inspiration of the chef.

What to do in Cannes?

Known for its International Film Festival which takes place in May, to discover absolutely the time of a romantic stay, Cannes does not have only its idyllic beaches to make travelers dream. A stroll on the Croisette and the Chemin des Étoiles – where actors and directors have left their mark – is a must-see on the outskirts of the Palais des Festivals.

We also take advantage of the charm of Cannes to stroll through the alleys of its old town, go shopping in its small shops and some shopping at the Forville market, visit the Museum of World Explorations and its square tower, go to the church Notre-DameLady of Hope and have a drink in the elegant bars. And we climb to the top of Mont Chevalier, in the shade of parasol pines, to admire the view.

While you can see them from the terraces of hotels in Cannes, the islands of Lérin, 15 minutes by boat from the old port, are a pure delight for nature lovers. The island of Sainte-Marguerite benefits from an incomparable fauna and flora, with coves breathtaking. On the other hand, the island of Saint-Honorat houses a monastery and a tower that will leave a beautiful memory for heritage lovers.
