Spring-Summer 2026: the 7 trends redefining our desires according to Etsy

In its Spring–Summer 2026 trends report, Etsy, a platform dedicated to handmade creations, unique objects, and vintage items, highlights a profound shift in the way we consume.

Based on an analysis of its internal data (searches and sales compared year over year), Etsy observes a clear turning point: consumers are moving away from standardized and “overly perfect” products, returning instead to more personal, handmade items that carry meaning. Here is a closer look at the seven trends highlighted in this study, some of which align with Pinterest’s 2026 forecasts.

Gold in our hands

“Woven softness” marks the strong comeback of artisanal textiles. Crochet, embroidery, crafted materials… Handmade pieces are becoming increasingly popular, with spectacular increases such as embroidered wicker bags (+20,000%), artisanal dresses (+294%), and crochet clothing (+36%). Beyond style, this reflects a more conscious way of consuming and a renewed appreciation for human craftsmanship.

With “Bubble of whimsy,” consumption becomes lighter and more joyful. Colorful objects, playful patterns, and creative kits are seeing real success, as shown by polka-dot phone cases (+835%), mahjong racks (+228%), beginner embroidery kits (+175%), and costume jewelry (+84%). In an uncertain context, these purchases become sources of escape and immediate pleasure.

Valuing one’s art, celebrating oneself

“Little treat” illustrates the rise of self-gifting, particularly among Gen Z. Small gifts are growing significantly (+277%), and 39% of young consumers say they celebrate moments without any particular reason. Treating oneself for a small win or simply for oneself is becoming an accepted practice, turning purchasing into an act of personal well-being.

The “Personal gallery” trend shows that the home is becoming a space for identity expression. Wall decor is rising significantly (+110%), along with premium art prints (+80%), decorative mirrors (+50%), and abstract art (+38%). Consumers are curating their interiors like personal works of art, blending art, memories, and meaningful objects.

With “Dear diary,” there is a strong return to analog practices. Journals, scrapbooking, and notebooks are appealing to a generation seeking disconnection and tangible memory: journal charms are up 395%, memory journals 189%, leather notebook covers 126%, and searches for travel journals have doubled.

Fashion and weddings

“Gothic romance” brings in a more dramatic and theatrical aesthetic, particularly in the world of weddings as peak season approaches. Lace, stained glass, and Victorian inspirations reflect a desire to re-enchant important moments, driven by increases such as vintage bar accessories (+1,550%), stained glass wedding signs (+200%), lace accessories (+63%), and mantilla veils (+25%).

“Nature bride” confirms that wedding codes are evolving. Ceremonies are becoming more intimate, more organic, and above all more personalized. Flower girl baskets are surging (+4,200%), bold wedding bands are up (+200%), searches for floral necklaces have increased by 99%, and wildflower wedding signs have more than doubled.

Beyond these trends, Etsy highlights a broader transformation: consuming is no longer just about buying, it is about expressing who we are. Handmade, imperfect, and personalized items are becoming the new markers of desire, as if reclaiming a calm, mindful control over one’s emotions by moving away from a certain standardized smoothness.
