Welcome to Menorca. Santa Ponsa, owned by Domaines du Fontenille and now one of the finest hotels in the Balearic Islands, is housed in a former seventeenth-century palace surrounded by 100 hectares of farmland and listed gardens around the terraces. The building’s red facades contrast with the lush green vegetation, the blue of the swimming pool, the myriad colours of the large vegetable garden and the light-coloured stone of the hotel’s walls. The same stonework can be found in the spa, housed in the old cisterns and featuring a hammam, sauna, treatment rooms, Nordic baths and various pools. A true cocoon of well-being. There are 22 rooms in the main building, the old barns and the detached houses, where the decor is stripped of all unnecessary frills, favouring rattan furniture and various shades of blue reminiscent of the sea. Santa Ponsa has a main restaurant where Spanish cuisine is king. The festive evenings and dancing around grilled meats and paellas are organised on Sundays and Mondays.

Me Ibiza

Ibiza is as famous for its idyllic landscapes as it is for its festive evenings, and boasts a number of iconic hotels. Such is the case of Me Ibiza, a five-star hotel located in the north-east of the island, in Santa Eulalia del Río. As peaceful as it is elegant, the hotel’s approach to luxury is unostentatious, with a focus on authenticity and nature. The infinity pool on the roof terrace merges with the sea. Not to mention the direct access to the beach, which promises intimate getaways. The rooms have views over the gardens or the Mediterranean. The Ibizan light enhances their clean, contemporary decor, with beautiful wooden headboards and immaculate furnishings. The culinary experience takes place at the Origens restaurant, with its local flavours, at the Radio Me Ibiza Rooftop table, which focuses on fish, shellfish and grilled meats, or in the Bianco Mare Beach & Pool Bar. And after drinking delicious cocktails and tasting colourful dishes with a southern flavour, treat yourself to a Thai treatment and a hammam break at the Thai Room Spa.

Son Vell Minorque

A haven of peace in Menorca, just 20 minutes from the historic town of Ciutadella in the north-west of the island, this 18th-century house is perfectly integrated into its surroundings and houses traditional farm buildings. The magnificent building is worthy of a postcard featuring the most beautiful landscapes in the Spanish countryside. The bedrooms are a perfect reflection of the spirit of this family villa, handed down from generation to generation. Rustic tiled floors. On the ceiling, rough wooden beams. And in between, you’ll find fireplaces, authentic yet designer furniture, large chandeliers and natural linen. It’s hard not to feel at home here. You’ll get the same impression at the Vermell restaurant, which combines traditional Menorcan recipes with influences from mainland Spain, France and the UK, and at the Sa Clarisa restaurant, which boasts a relaxed atmosphere and local dishes. A swimming pool with pool bar, an open-air cinema and a pétanque court are just some of the activities on offer at Son Vell. The perfect representation of luxury focused on nature and tradition.

Hacienda Na Xamena

The address is well worth a visit. In the north of Ibiza, Hacienda na xamena instantly brings to mind the beauty of the Greek island of Santorini. You lose yourself in the undulating alleys, covered in immaculate walls and palm trees. All facing the sea, nestled in the cliffs. The whole hotel is turned towards this captivating landscape, whose colours change with the hours of the day. The Eden restaurant, which promotes sustainable, local cuisine using ingredients grown in the estate’s own garden, promises a romantic moment as the sun sets. Time also seems to stand still at the La Posidonie spa, where the jetted pool overlooking the environment is highly recommended. This oasis boasts 77 rooms and suites with a contemporary, uncluttered architecture. A must? Have a drink on the terrace of one of the rooms or relax in the private pools. An intimate, suspended moment guaranteed.
