Seen for the first time on the catwalks at Milan Fashion Week last February, the Trigreca sneaker promises to be the flagship pair of the season.
Versace officially unveiled its new Trigreca sneaker. Launched at the house’s runway show at Milan Fashion Week, the silhouette designed by Salehe Bembury was inspired by Versace’s Greca pattern, a rich heritage motif for the house that first appeared in the Versace Fall/Winter 1988 collection.
The Italian luxury house presented an original sneaker with a jellyfish, an emblematic symbol of the brand, hidden in the sole of the sneaker.
In an interview for the Hypebeast media, Donatella Versace spoke about the new sneakers: “You can do so many cool things with design and really express your creativity and brand codes in a way that wasn’t possible a few years ago. Sneakers have become not only an alternative to more formal shoes, but a statement of style, a sign of belonging to a clan, a fashion element essential to one’s look”.
The Trigreca sneaker comes in five colors: a mix of blues and greens, a palette of purple, pink and navy like a sunset, and a combination of navy and dark grey-green tones, as well as the more conventional black-grey and white-gold pairs.
Greca details, represented by a geometric pattern created from an unbroken line, adorn the extremities, mid-soles and outsoles, while the coordinates of Versace’s headquarters in Milan are printed on the upper. The outsole is adorned with the head of Medusa. A cork-based “Grecca Cushioning System” completes the look.
