In an exhibition entitled “Erwin Blumenfeld, fashion is a game”, the Samaritaine honours the German photographer Erwin Blumenfeld by revealing his most beautiful fashion shots.
The talent of Erwin Blumenfeld shines through the walls of the Samaritaine. He is best known for revolutionising fashion photography, imposing his style and creative genius on the biggest magazines. He is a leading fashion photographer, most famous for his roles in the 1940s and 1950s in the American magazines Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
Avant-garde and visionary, his unique style is now highlighted in the Parisian temple of luxury, through large printed and semi-transparent panels on which his photographs appear. His pictures are floating, between mystery, depth and optical illusions.
This exhibition plays with depths, colours and points of view, in a unique, almost dreamlike setting. It thus reflects perfectly the world of Erwin Blumenfeld and what he wanted to represent through his photographs throughout his life.
Come and browse through Blumenfeld’s mysterious and unique photographs at the Samaritaine, from 17th February to 12th May 2022. Discover it here!
