Gone are the days of rigid, cookie-cutter weddings. In 2026, celebrations of love will become true statements of self-expression for the bride and groom. Discover this year’s wedding trends according to Pinterest.
Last year, more than 7 billion wedding-related searches and more than 16.7 billion wedding ideas worldwide were recorded on Pinterest. And there’s something for every quirk. According to a report by GWI, the main motivation behind choosing an unconventional wedding is the ability to fully express one’s personality. As indicated by the dedicated study published by the social media platform, couples—particularly those in Gen Z—are rejecting traditional models to create tailor-made celebrations that reflect who they are.
Before the Big Day
Long codified—and sometimes rigid—weddings are now entering a phase of radical personalization. Certain search terms are skyrocketing, with increases reaching +305% for scripted romantic dates and +385% for couple photo ideas. These triple-digit increases signal a shift: marriage is no longer a formula to be replicated, but a space for self-expression.
This transformation begins well before the big day. Engagement is becoming a process that unfolds over time. “Romantic evenings, stolen moments at a café, and familiar places… a natural, documentary-style vibe is taking precedence over studio-style setups,” explains the report. Searches for inspiration on romantic dates, couple’s billiards poses, and marriage proposals under a weeping willow have increased by 310%, 600%, and 220%, respectively.
A bold aesthetic
The same shift is evident when it comes to venues. Gone are the traditional halls and static settings: searches for unique and immersive venues continue to attract the public. Themes inspired by speakeasies (+225%), enchanted palaces (+545%), and jazz clubs (+1,115%) reflect this desire to surprise and immerse guests in a different atmosphere—one that is more sensory, more theatrical, and more exclusive.
Aesthetically, trends revolve around stark contrasts. On one hand, there are luminous, opalescent palettes with iridescent effects, for which interest has grown by more than +150%. On the other, deep, organic tones—plum, olive, fig—are on the rise by approximately +90% to +140%.

In terms of decor, the trend is toward romantic maximalism and sensory experiences. Drapery (+1,510%), stained-glass windows (+750%), lace, velvet, floral installations (+195%), vegetable-based centerpieces (+380%)… Brides and grooms are seeking atmospheres that fully engage the senses, where guests can see, smell, and interact with the decor.
Looks and accessories
Bridal fashion is following this trend. Silhouettes are evolving, blending vintage inspirations with contemporary styles. It is no longer a uniform, but rather a tool for personal expression. Among the most popular search terms are “1980s wedding dress” (+1,090%), “low-waisted wedding dress corsets” (+1,405%), and “men’s wedding dress” (+475%). Iridescent suits are also in vogue, featuring silky pinks, dusty rose, aqua green, and mirror finishes.
Among Gen Z, searches for unique accessories—such as the celestial Whimsigoth aesthetic, reimagined veils, floral makeup, and grillz (tooth jewelry)—are steadily increasing. For men, accessories are also enhancing their looks, with brooches, signet rings, and silver flower bracelets.

When it comes to beauty, dramatic yet soft hairstyles (side part, telenovela-style hair, infinity bun…) and glamorous makeup looks (vintage Hollywood, ultra-glam, 1920s beauty) appeal to those who love a touch of eccentricity.
Reimagining cakes, bouquets, and entertainment
Even traditionally secondary elements are taking on new significance. Wedding cakes, for example, are being completely reinvented, with trends ranging from kitsch cakes to flowerpot cakes, tiramisu-themed cakes, and trompe-l’oeil designs. The same trend applies to bouquets, which might be made of chenille, shaped like a handbag, or adorned with sparkling flowers.

When it comes to entertainment, requests for unique wedding activities have skyrocketed by 720%, signaling a profound shift: guests are no longer mere spectators, but active participants in the event. From slideshow photos projected onto a screen to video guest books and photo booth journals, retro technology reflects a specific desire: to create a tangible, memorable, and always heartfelt shared experience.
